Hi students!
I’m Dr. Sarafina Redwine. I’ve taught at the college level for over 20 years, and I’ve been teaching at PVC full-time since January of 2013. My area of expertise in psychology (PSY) is behavioral neuroscience, in particular, drugs and the brain, or psychopharmacology.

I love to teach! I’m especially enthusiastic about active learning, and I enjoy the pursuit of professional development for improving my teaching techniques. I’ve taught a variety of PSY, neuroscience, and addiction studies courses throughout my teaching career. At PVC I mainly teach General PSY (101), Research Methods (150), Lifespan Development (201), Biological PSY (205), and Social PSY (215). I teach in-person, online, and correspondence courses at PVC. I’m passionate about brain health, because our brains are involved in everything we do, and how we perform, so brain healthy behaviors are critical. In my teaching, I emphasize the importance of nutrition, exercise, and positivity on mind and body fitness. Outside of work, I enjoy organic gardening. I grow herbs, veggies, berries, and wildflowers, in addition to fruit trees, and rose bushes. I also adore dancing and live music, and chase the music as often as possible. A recent bucket-list venue experience was camping at the Gorge Ampitheatre in WA state for Above and Beyond’s weekend-long Group Therapy tour; so fun! I dabble in playing the ukulele, spinning LED poi, and arts and crafts. Of utmost importance is my family, including my two dogs Clementine and Lucy. We enjoy doing lots of outdoor activities, along with good friends. According to the research in PSY, when all is said and done, happy relationships, a positive outlook, and a healthy, active lifestyle, including lifelong learning, are the keys to physical and cognitive longevity. So – it’s important to never stop learning, and to keep looking for those silver linings! Hope to see you in class!
