Associate in Science in Automotive Technology

Description: 
The Automotive Technology program provides for entry level skills in the automotive field. The program is designed to impart in-depth technical skills as required in today’s highly technical automotive field. Preparation for employment in the automotive and/or transportation trades, with upgrading and specialization skills for those currently employed will be stressed. Emphasizes practical experience in actual repairs under simulated shop conditions.

Career Info:
This degree path prepares you for an entry-level job or allows those who are currently employed to upgrade their job skills. The Certificate of Achievement Automotive Technology is embedded within the degree and offers practical and hands-on experience in automotive repairs, engine analysis/tune up, brake systems, auto electrical systems, engine diagnosis/overhaul, suspension, steering, and alignment. Possible future careers include entry-level positions in a large dealership, independent garage, specialty shop, parts store, machine shop, and more.  Here's some future career possibilities from the CA Career Zone.

This degree generally leads to a specific occupational goal and is not a transferable degree. Although, some courses within the degree may transfer to a four-year college/university. If you are interested in transferring, please consult with a counselor for information regarding your intended major at the specific college or university of your choice.

  1. Apply through CCC Apply.   CCC Apply is the way potential students across CA apply to a community college! 
  2. Take the orientation online (see Student Planning video below) and bring it with you when you meet with a counselor (Step 3).   
  3. Meet with a counselor (virtual or in-person).  Please call for an appointment, 760-921-5500. 
  4. Apply for Financial Aid.   Please call 760-921-5553 to speak with a representative in the financial aid department if you need help filling out the online form. 
  5. Register for classes.   (Videos and printable guides are located below).
